Trina May

Director of Marketing

As Director of Marketing at GPA, Trina May is responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s strategic and tactical marketing plans and programs, which span a variety of channels from print, online and video to direct mail and social media. She is dedicated to strengthening GPA’s image as a market leader, both in the eyes of our customers and with the company’s employees. She truly enjoys the dynamics of marketing in today’s evolving media landscape, and is committed to continuous learning to seek out the best ways to forge lasting connections with GPA’s customers and industry partners.

During Trina’s extensive career at GPA, she helped advance the company’s brands, products and culture in considerable ways. By leading the development of GPA’s award-winning marketing promotions over the years, from swatchbooks, catalogs, product guides, and multi-channel campaigns, she helps customers understand how GPA’s products and services provide the kind of value that can help them stand out in a competitive marketplace. Trina was also responsible for the development of GPA’s first corporate website, in addition to directing the development of GPA’s e-commerce site, ShopGPA.com, and GPA’s technical community, the Tech Corner.

As the driving force behind the company’s social media development in the dawn of the social era, Trina led the launch of Runiverse.org, which is an exclusive social network for customers and friends of GPA. She also spearheaded the creation of a variety of customer-focused marketing solutions, designed to empower GPA’s customers with the tools and knowledge to quickly, confidently, and profitably go to market. For her many lasting contributions, she earned GPA’s 2009 President’s Award, which is awarded to one employee a year for high levels of achievement in promoting GPA’s corporate goals throughout the year, and for unselfishly going above and beyond the call of duty.

Prior to joining GPA, Trina spent three years working as an Advertising Manager at an in-house advertising agency. She went on to join Vijuk Equipment, Inc., where she served as Director of Advertising for seven years. At Vijuk, Trina developed the company’s advertising, product brochures, tradeshow presence, and other marketing collateral before moving on to a role in Account Services at another advertising agency. At Marketing Alternatives, Inc. she helped coordinate promotions and creative concepts for clients, in addition to merchandise display distribution. In 1997, she took on the role of Graphic Designer at GPA, and was later promoted to the position of Marketing Manager, until she advanced to her current role in 2010.

Trina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Graphic Design from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. She continues to stay on top of the latest advancements in the world of marketing through her membership in the American Marketing Association and various other marketing organizations. She also stays active in her community through her volunteer efforts at her local VFW and she contributes to a variety of humanitarian, animal welfare and other causes she is passionate about.
