As Business Development Director of Digital Papers at GPA, Ron Pergande is responsible for ensuring that GPA’s diverse portfolio of digital papers remains on the cutting edge. He played a primary role in leading the development of the flagship Ultra Digital® product offering in the infancy of digital printing in 1999. Ron has since helped to take it to great heights, going on to develop GPA’s other well-known digital paper brands, including Ultra Digital Plus™, Ultra Print™, Ultra Photo™, and Ultra Digital Green™.
Ron regularly collaborates with GPA’s customers from the pressroom to the corner office to understand their needs, and introduce new applications and solutions that help them leverage their technology and profitably grow their business. Behind the scenes, Ron is constantly working to bring the highest quality and most innovative digital papers to market. He is committed to securing GPA’s position as a market leader in substrates for digital presses, and to strengthening customer and partner relationships.
During Ron’s career at GPA, he has made many lasting contributions to the company’s growth, success, and culture. Aside from spearheading GPA’s Ultra Digital® brand, he has established strategic partnerships with mills and suppliers to bring in only the highest quality products. He was instrumental in GPA becoming a founding member of Dscoop, as well as Dscoop’s first Diamond Partner. Ron also played a significant role in GPA becoming an HP Indigo Preferred Media Partner in 2008. Many people also know Ron as “Red Cooler Ron,” for traveling with his signature red cooler and having informal gatherings around it at industry events. His collaborative spirit and strong belief in community are a few of the intangible elements responsible for shaping GPA’s unique presence in the industry.
For his contributions to the company, Ron has received GPA’s Salesperson of the Year Award in 1996, and also GPA’s President’s Award in 2002, which is presented to one employee a year for high levels of achievement in promoting GPA’s corporate goals.
Ron began his career in the printing industry working for a small Chicago printing company in sales and production. He later became a principal at BreLund Graphics, a marketing and communications company where he led the sales and production departments. In 1995 Ron joined GPA as a Territory Sales Manager, and not long after was promoted to Western Region General Manager. In 1999 he relocated to Minnesota and held dual roles as a Territory Sales Manager and Product Manager, until he became GPA’s full-time Ultra Digital® Product Manager, then was promoted to his current position in 2011.
Ron holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois, as well as an MBA from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.
